SASSI training is offered in two sessions. In Session I: Administration & Scoring you will learn how the SASSI was developed and how it should be used, administration & scoring of the adult and adolescent SASSI questionnaires, and basic knowledge of the individual scales. In Session II: Clinical Interpretation you will learn the clinical use of the SASSI scales, screening and assessment information, and how to give feedback to the client.
Each session is approximately 3.5 hours.
SASSI Training online is $60 per session . Live online training is also available for agencies/organizations wishing to provide a private training for their staff only. For a quote on a private agency (8-10 minimum) live online training please click here. The cost of live in-person training varies by location. This is due to the fact that our instructors are independent contractors, each with their own expenses involved in presenting the workshops. You may click on the name of the city where you are interested in attending training to view additional registration information, if available, including cost.
Anybody who needs to screen for alcohol & drug related disorders is encouraged to attend. There are no prerequisites or specific qualifications needed to register for training.
Yes. The SASSI Institute, Inc. is approved to give 3.5 CEs for each session of training by the National Association of Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC),Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals (TCBAP) and IC&RC. NAADAC CEUs are accepted by many other boards, for a full list click here. Some of our instructors are approved to give other Credits for varying Boards in their state. We suggest you contact the instructor who is offering the workshop you are planning to attend to find out what other credits they may be offering. For workshops in Canada, including online courses, we are approved by the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation for 3.5 core CEUs per session.
Training is not mandatory for human service practitioners whose certification and/or professional training includes assessment (e.g., psychologist, social workers, certified addiction counselors, etc.). If you do not have this professional, training you can still administer and score the SASSI if there is appropriate supervision without attending training. However, the SASSI is a carefully developed assessment instrument it requires proper administration, scoring and interpretation. Therefore, eligibility to purchase is limited to the above listed human service practitioners. If you do not have this professional training and do not have appropriate supervision, then you must provide proof of training in order to purchase the SASSI. (It is suggested that you contact your state or provincial government for specific information on the laws regulating assessment and testing in your area.)
We do not offer training on the Spanish version; however, training online does demonstrate the scoring of the instrument. The scoring procedure is exactly the same as other SASSIs. Also, we recommend against using the scale scores to develop clinical hypothesis. However, SASSI clinicians are pleased to assist anyone who may need help with administration and scoring by calling 800.726.0526 option 2.
Yes, training on the BADDS is offered, but only online. The cost for BADDS training is $40 per person and is approved for 3.5 credits for each session of training by the National Association of Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) and the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation for 3.5 core CEUs for session. Please visit our online training page for additional information.
